Junior High 6-8

Preparing Students for their Next Big Steps

Our Junior High is an exciting transitional period that prepares students both academically as well as socially for high school. In addition to academics, students are able to learn valuable life lessons from a biblical worldview and develop a solid foundation that helps them face the pressures of peers and society.

Junior High is a 1:1 program with chrome books. They will also receive assignments and homework through google classroom. Students get their own email account in Jr. High, and when they graduate from jr. high they are able to take their chrome books with them.

We run a modified block schedule Mon-Thurs which means students have 3 core classes a day in the morning for 75 minutes. The afternoon schedule is similar but with classes only being 45 minutes. On Fridays, Jr. High students will attend morning chapel and then have their core class for 45 minutes and usually have home room activities or STEAM projects in the afternoon. Afternoon classes include P.E., Band, Study Hall, Electives, Fine Arts, etc. Electives change each quarter and include subjects like art, leadership, computer science and health, newsletter/yearbook, speech and debate, and personal finance.

FIELD TRIPS AND OUTDOOR EDUCATION

In Jr. High, students are able to go on various field trips as well as overnight trips throughout the year. All three grades have the opportunity to participate and attend a different outdoor education trip in September. This is always a highlight of the year and is part of their academic curriculum! Outdoor Ed allows for several hands on science and team-building activities that help with reinforcing positive student relationships and promoting good stewardship of the environment.

In addition to our field trips and outdoor ed, a Washington DC trip is offered every other year over Easter Break. Every year 5th through 8th grade students travel to Portland, Oregon to compete at Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament (L.E.S.T.) in a wide variety of subjects and competitions. In eighth grade students finish their Jr. High experience with a week long trip to Yosemite.
